Umm... he's a New Yorker and a former heroin addict. He also used to be a drug gunner for a gang until his brother OD'd and got his head cut off when Eddie came to save him. Since then, Roland dragged him into his alternate dimension and taught Eddie to use a gun like a gunslinger and pretty much gave his life a sense of purpose. From time to time, he has some psychic abilities, although that's mostly related to the plot. He's very much a wise-cracker but also has huge self-esteem issues and worries about failure. He's married to another lady Roland picked up. Oh, and he got shot and killed before they could finish their quest, which he's extremely devoted to: Finding the Tower and protecting the rose that represents it.
